Math Learning Plan: Sorting
Read or listen to a story together called, “The Animals Would Not Sleep” by Sara Levine. Then, have the child gather their own stuffed animals and toys. Have the child compare the differences in the toys to sort them into categories. Count the number of toys in each category, and then try to sort the toys in a different way.
Science Learning Plan: Oobleck!
Read or listen to a story together called, “Matter: See It, Touch It, Taste It, Smell It” by Darlene Ruth Stille. Then, have the child do a science experiment to make oobleck by gathering their materials, making a plan, making a prediction, testing their hypothesis, and comparing the results.
Social Emotional Learning Plan: Kind Puppets
Read or listen to a story together called, “Kind Ninja” by Mary Nhin. Then, put on a puppet show with your child. Make up a story about an adventure that the puppets go on together, talking about each other’s emotions and modeling how to interact positively to build relationships.

Read or listen to a story together called, “Lia & Luis” by Ana Crespo. Then, have the child gather small objects and big objects in bags or bowls the same size. Have the child compare the objects’ quantity, weight, and height.

Read or listen to a story together called, “Ada Twist Scientist” by Andrea Beaty. Then, have the child conduct the Pepper and Soap Experiment by gathering their materials, making a plan, making a prediction, testing their hypothesis, and comparing the results.
Literacy Learning Plan: Bottle Cap Names!
Read or listen to a story together about names. Then, have your child trace their name using bottle caps, buttons, or other small objects from around the home.

Teaching Mama is an education blog that shares hands-on learning activities for toddlers and preschoolers. I like that the Preschool tab is organized by learning topics. I struggle to find resources with Gross Motor Skills activities that engage other learning standards.
Brain Pop Jr.
BrainPop Jr. has a variety of videos related to STEAM, reading, writing, and social studies. Children are able to learn about topics by their grade level. Following the instructional videos, there are options to take an easy quiz, hard quiz, create a map, or even tell a joke.
Playful Math Activities for Preschoolers
Parents.com offers family activities by age that can be done at home. I particularly like their article on Playful Math Activities for Preschoolers. This article reinforces how many math activities can be done in real life context.
Breakfast Invitations
Days with Grey offers play-based learning resources including a course, guides, and activity ideas for kids. My favorite resource is her Breakfast Invitation that usually involves a large sheet of paper and an independent creative project for children to do in the morning.
PBS Kids: Dinosaur Train
PBS Kids is a great resource for educational games, videos, and printable activities for kids. One particular favorite of mine is Dinosaur Train. Dinosaur Train involves science and natural history, and allows children to explore animals and develop their critical thinking skills as they act like paleontologists.
STEM Activities!
Check out these great STEM activities for preschoolers from Mommy Poppins! STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Some favorites that are listed are building a bridge and experimenting with baking soda. Make sure you ask your engineers to make predictions and observations as they experiment!
